What the Built-In RFID Reader Does on the Zebra TC53e-RFID
The TC53e-RFID reads UHF RFID tags within about 4 ft., at up to 20 tags per second, in the US 902-928 MHz band. Zebra designed it for close-up, item-level work:
- Find an item: locate a specific tagged product on a shelf or rack.
- Verify a basket: read every item in a basket at once at checkout, or confirm everything was paid for.
- Check in shipments: reconcile incoming cartons against what was ordered.
- Handle returns: reprogram existing tags so returned items go back into stock correctly.
- Validate tickets and bags: check event tickets, or identify bags on an airport baggage cart.
Please note: because the reader is short range, it isn't built for counting a full stockroom or warehouse. For full inventory counts, add a Zebra RFD40 or RFD90 RFID sled, which reads from 20 ft. up to 75 ft. away at up to 1,300 tags per second, or look at the Zebra TC501, which reads more than 200 tags per second at up to 6.5 ft.
