- Standard or premium: memory comes as 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, or 8 GB with 128 GB. Premium models add hot swap, so the device stays running while you change the battery, plus an image-stabilized camera and a Time-of-Flight sensor for package dimensioning. Standard models use warm swap.
- Short range or long range scanning: the SE4770 reads barcodes out to about 24 in. with a wide field of view. The SE55 reads barcodes from in hand to as far as 40 ft. away, for trailers, top racks and yards.
- Battery: the standard battery is 4,680 mAh and the extended battery is 7,000 mAh. A 4,680 mAh BLE battery lets Zebra's Device Tracker find a lost device even when it's off, and the TC78 also takes a 4,680 mAh battery that charges wirelessly on Qi chargers, which suits in-vehicle charging.
- TC78 or TC58: the Zebra TC58 is the slimmer, lighter 5G option, at 10.3 oz., rated for 6 ft. drops with its boot. If devices take hard drops getting in and out of trucks, the TC78 is the tougher choice.
- Adding RFID: the TC78 has no built-in RFID, but it pairs with Zebra's RFID sleds, which read up to 1,300 tags per second.
- TC78 or TC701: the Zebra TC701 is the next generation of Zebra's TC7 series. It adds built-in RFID on every model, Wi-Fi 7, a 12 ft. drop rating and 3,500 tumbles, and it also comes in a 5G version.
